When setting goals think BIG!

Think big. The bigger your goal the more motivated you’ll be to go after it every day. The higher a priority it will be to you. The less likely you’ll be to procrastinate. The more fuel you’ll have to grind it out, day after day. Seeing yourself achieving your compelling goal is going to push you to make it a reality. Imagine how great it’s going to feel once you accomplish your goal. I like to envision a naysayer, a real or imagined person, that’s hoping I’ll fail. I channel my anger toward that person into my work with an “I’ll prove you wrong” mentality.  I adopt a “you don’t know me” attitude. You don’t know how determined I am. I like to imagine their dismay when they discover I have beaten their predictions. “Success is the best revenge,” Ed Sheeran.

Success comes down to three things: effort, attitude, and talent. Getting in shape doesn’t require talent, and we have absolute control over our effort and attitude.  Getting in shape is a campaign of discipline. It is a daily battel against temptation, procrastination, and laziness. You must establish a sense of urgency around transforming your body. How do you feel about your body now? What do you wish was different? Think big, the more gripping the goal the better you’ll do. The more motivated you’ll become to take action. Imagine how great you will feel when you get the body you’ve always wanted. How will it change your life? How much more confident will you feel? Creating this sense of urgency will fuel your efforts and keep you motivated. Motivated individuals can accomplish the seemingly impossible. They take ownership of where they are and what they need to do to get where they want to be. They are willing to do whatever it takes. Failure isn’t an option. They don’t let setbacks deter them.  They don’t place any value in excuses. They never quit. They adopt an attitude of it isn’t over until I win. When you encounter a set-back, take comfort knowing it is temporary. Real failure occurs when you stop trying. The only thing that makes failure permanent is quitting, and no one can make you quit.
