Our MissionOur mission is to help as many people as possible to improve the quality of their lives. I believe it begins with improving our health and appearance. I found this to be true in my own life. Our health is our most valuable resource. Exercise improves our mood and focus. It can lift us out of depression. It has even been shown to stimulate our mind. When we begin to look better, we begin to feel better. I believe a better life starts with the development of healthy habits because that is where it started for me. Growing up as an overweight kid, I lacked self-confidence. Obesity runs in my family. My paternal grandfather died of a heart attack when my father was in his teens. My father was always struggling to lose weight. He was a brilliant well-educated man, an editor at the New York Times, but he was never able to lose the weight. Our attitude is a choice. Every moment of every day we decide what to focus on and what things mean. Our reality is shaped more by the prism we view it through than the facts before us. We can choose to be grateful a thorn bush has roses, or we can choose to be angry that a rose bush has thorns. Our attitude affects our results. A poor attitude produces poor results. Imaginary Difficulties are Impossible to Overcome

“Real difficulties can be overcome; it is only the imaginary ones that are unconquerable.” —Theodore Vail.
Many times, it is our beliefs that create the barriers to our success. For example, if you convince yourself, you don’t have discipline or willpower than your mind will look for evidence to substantiate that belief. If you believe that something is impossible, then for you it is. We must be aware of our thoughts because our thoughts guide our decisions and actions.
If we want to cultivate more powerful thoughts, we must be cautious about the things we tell ourselves. What follows the words “I am,” will have a massive impact on your life. Of course, you cannot just say I am smart and do nothing to develop your mind. That type of nonsense is dilutional.
What I am suggesting is that you support your affirmations with concrete action. Consistent, disciplined actions will develop your belief. You must give yourself evidence to substantiate your opinion of yourself.
My worst subject at West Point was English, but I don’t let that stop me from writing. I keep writing with the belief that I can get better. Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly until you can do it well. I keep writing, so I can get through those first terrible 10,000 pages. What keeps me going is my dream of helping thousands of people to cross the abyss, between knowledge and action so they can live a healthier more fulfilling life.

There is victory in pursuing a dream, whether it comes to fruition or not. The ultimate failure in life is not having an idea. People that aren’t pursuing their goals are only half alive. Don’t let that be you. Have a dream, have belief in yourself, believe that through hard work and dedication you can achieve it, and then give yourself more and more evidence to substantiate your belief. Good luck! The Habit: Week-15 (Actively Seek Associations that Will Inspire You)

“It’s better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours, and you’ll drift in that direction.” Warren Buffett

This week’s challenge is to seek out people that will inspire and influence you in a positive manner. Whatever your goal is, seek out individuals that have achieved it, or are at least further along than you. Seek out associations with groups and individuals you respect and admire.

Warren Buffett says, “The best thing I did was to choose the right heroes.” Bill Graham, was Warren’s hero when he began his career in investment. Bill told Warren when he was a young man he looked around at the people he admired. After studying their character and habits, he concluded that they weren’t doing anything he could not do. He decided that he would mirror the behavior of those successful people he admired until he became someone he could admire. Success leaves clues. Success is a science; if you do what other successful people do, you will be successful.

Many people underestimate the important role of environmental norms and expectations play in our behavior. We all have friends that either bring out the best in us or the worst in us. None of us are immune to the effect. It is often said we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. The Habit: Week-14 (Eliminate the Energy Vampires from Your Life)

This week, our challenge is to eliminate the energy vampires from our lives. It is often said that energy is more important to your success than intelligence. None of us can afford to have energy vampires in our lives.

Energy vampires are easy to identify. They are always complaining about someone or something. They are constantly making excuses. Dale Carnegie often said, “Any fool can criticize, complain, and condemn—and most fools do.” They focus on problems and not solutions.
