SELF-ESTEEM IS ONLY GAINED THROUGH SELF-DISCIPLINE

Here is the greatest value of discipline: self-worth. Many people who are teaching self-esteem these days don’t connect it to discipline. But once we sense the least lack of discipline within ourselves, it starts to erode our psyche. One of the greatest temptations is just to ease up a little bit. Instead of doing your best, you allow yourself to do just a little less than your best. Sure enough, you’ve started in the slightest way to decrease your sense of self-worth. Respect must be earned. No One Knows Enough to Be a Pessimist

“No one knows enough to be a pessimist.” Dr. Wayne Dyer
Experts often pronounce something to be impossible only to be proven wrong by someone who believed it was possible. The best example of this is the 4-minute mile. The reason we remember Roger Bannister isn’t because he broke the 4-minute mile, but because he was able to believe he could do it when everyone else thought it was impossible. When Faith is Needed Most

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
It is easy to have faith and confidence when things are going well, but that isn’t when faith is needed. Faith is necessary when everything is falling apart. Faith is required when no one believes in you. When you start to question yourself, that is when you must call on faith. You must confront your doubts. You must believe success is still possible because if you don’t believe it is possible, then for you it isn’t.
Faith is needed most when times are difficult. When you fail, again and again, you must believe that success is still possible. We must hold firm when others doubt us. It is ok for others to doubt us, but we can never allow their doubt to creep into our mind if we want to succeed. “Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.” Abraham Lincoln

Imaginary Difficulties are Impossible to Overcome

“Real difficulties can be overcome; it is only the imaginary ones that are unconquerable.” —Theodore Vail.
Many times, it is our beliefs that create the barriers to our success. For example, if you convince yourself, you don’t have discipline or willpower than your mind will look for evidence to substantiate that belief. If you believe that something is impossible, then for you it is. We must be aware of our thoughts because our thoughts guide our decisions and actions.
If we want to cultivate more powerful thoughts, we must be cautious about the things we tell ourselves. What follows the words “I am,” will have a massive impact on your life. Of course, you cannot just say I am smart and do nothing to develop your mind. That type of nonsense is dilutional.
What I am suggesting is that you support your affirmations with concrete action. Consistent, disciplined actions will develop your belief. You must give yourself evidence to substantiate your opinion of yourself.
My worst subject at West Point was English, but I don’t let that stop me from writing. I keep writing with the belief that I can get better. Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly until you can do it well. I keep writing, so I can get through those first terrible 10,000 pages. What keeps me going is my dream of helping thousands of people to cross the abyss, between knowledge and action so they can live a healthier more fulfilling life.
“Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst.” Henri Cartier-Bresson
There is victory in pursuing a dream, whether it comes to fruition or not. The ultimate failure in life is not having an idea. People that aren’t pursuing their goals are only half alive. Don’t let that be you. Have a dream, have belief in yourself, believe that through hard work and dedication you can achieve it, and then give yourself more and more evidence to substantiate your belief. Good luck!
